As President Donald Trump is making his way home from the mess in Helsinki his Director of National Intelligence is sticking by the statement he made last Friday at the Hudson Institute. Director Dan Coates said in that speech that the “light was blinking red” for another attack of the United State cyberinfrastructure and that Russia was the main culprit.
I wrote about this here yesterday Cyber Attack Is Imminent Warns DNI Chief Dan Coates.
Today Coates released this statement from the” Office of the
Director of National Intelligence”
The role of the Intelligence Community is to provide the best information and fact-based assessments possible for the President and policymakers. We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security.
Daniel R. Coats, Director of National Intelligence
Cue the Tom Petty song ” Won’t back down” and Coates shouldn’t.
We need to be unified on the front of bad actors trying to cripple the United States. If not, we are finished.
