Mike Huckabee: Kerry Meeting With Iran Makes Case For Logan Act Violation (VIDEO)

People talk about the Logan Act in jest because it’s rarely if ever enforced. However, Mike Huckabee pointed out on FOX and Friends today that John Kerry’s meetings with Iran actually fit the criteria for a violation of it.

From the FOX News Insider:

Huckabee: Kerry Talking to Iranians ‘Makes the Case’ for First-Ever Logan Act Conviction

Mike Huckabee reacted Sunday on “Fox & Friends” to former Secretary of State John Kerry for holding private meetings with Iranian officials…

“John Kerry is the only guy I know who wants to bring back the Edsel, MySpace and other failed enterprises,” Huckabee (R-Ark.) remarked. “What he is doing is not funny.”

Huckabee said Kerry could be suited for the first successful prosecution of the Logan Act of 1799, which prohibits conducting unauthorized diplomacy with governments in dispute with the United States.

The act’s name refers to a 1798 incident in which Philadelphia farmer George Logan traveled to France, outside the purview of President John Adams, to try to avoid war during a time of tension over merchant shipping.

At the very least, Kerry’s actions should be investigated. He needs to explain his actions to the American people.
