Are you ready for #Beto2020 yet?
All signs are pointing to Democrat superstar Beto O’Rourke throwing his hat into the 2020 presidential arena.
The Politico reports:
“Amy and I have made a decision about how we can best serve our country,” the former Texas congressman said in a prepared statement about his deliberations with his wife. “We are excited to share it with everyone soon.”
O’Rourke, who is widely expected to enter the 2020 presidential campaign, has been emailing supporters in recent days and speaking privately with potential staffers. He had previously said that he would decide by this week whether to run for president, though he also said he would not be “limited” by that timetable.
[…]
O’Rourke became a Democratic sensation during his closer-than-expected run against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) last year, a contest in which he raised more than $80 million, largely from a national network of small donors.
On top of his teaser about his future plans, The Dallas Morning News reported that O’Rourke will not challenge Sen. John Cornyn next year:
Beto O’Rourke has decided not to run for U.S. Senate next year against Texas Republican incumbent John Cornyn and likely will announce a campaign for president soon, people close to the former El Paso congressman told The Dallas Morning News on Wednesday.
[…]
Since his close but historic loss to GOP Sen. Ted Cruz in November, O’Rourke has been weighing how to “best serve the country.” His political options have been to run for president or against Cornyn.
Watch video of O’Rourke teasing his upcoming announcement below:

Well, we all know what this means. It’ll be like Barack Obama’s 2008 run all over again.
1. Photojournalists will be posting sunlight/sunset profile photos of O’Rourke that make it appear as though he’s wearing a halo.
2. Also, “We are the ones we have been waiting for” will become a popular uttering at Beto campaign events.
3. He will lovingly be compared to President Abraham Lincoln.
4. There will be a return of fainters at presidential campaign rallies.
5. And – just as was done with Obama – we will be getting photos/videos of Beto on his bicycle, like the one below:

Should O’Rourke make it official, he’ll be jumping into an already-crowded field of contenders. The Real Clear Politics polling average has him trailing Senators Sanders (VT), Harris (CA), and Warren (MA)- who all announced their intentions to run earlier this year. Should Joe Biden announce, O’Rourke would trail him as well.
O’Rourke hasn’t given a date and time for his announcement, but my guess is that it will be in the next week, if not sooner. Because he hasn’t been in the news much in the last few months, his star has fallen a bit. So he’ll need to get that momentum back and soon if he expects to get ahead of the pack early.
Stay tuned!
