Beto O’Rourke Fans are As Weird as He Is

Current 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and failed Texas Senate candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke is an odd duck. Between doing Facebook lives of his dental appointments, his cow poetry, his child murder fantasy, and pretty much everything else we discover from his past, O’Rourke seems more fit as a psychological study than a presidential candidate.

The people who really love him, however, seem to be about as weird as he is, if not weirder. The lengths they go to promoting and supporting him are either monumentally cringeworthy, or monumentally ridiculous. There doesn’t seem to be any in between.

The latest comes in the form of a 2 acre large crop circle someone created in his likeness.

According to Juan Rodriguez of KVUE-TV, Artist Stan Herd of Austin, TX, decided to carve O’Rourke’s face into a hill two days after O’Rourke announced. The artist put it near the airport so that everyone flying into the Austin airport will be able to see it clearly from the sky.

If you want a perspective of how large it actually looks, Herd stood within his creation and allowed a camera to zoom out to show you.

According to project manager John Zarr, “Herd was in the field for hours a day.”

It takes a special person to dedicate days of their time to carve the face of a politician into an Earth that I’m 100 percent sure didn’t provide consent before it happened. Especially one that couldn’t even win the state of Texas despite all the Democrat’s horses and all the Democrat’s men coming together to push and fund his campaign.

It’s also odd that they made his face way darker than it actually is, but I digress.

Obsession with any politician to this scale is worrisome, but cults are going to cult.

It goes further than Beto O’Lawn, though. During his Texas campaign the comedy troupe “Esther’s Follies” made one of the cringiest music videos in support of O’Rourke. While I can’t be sure it’s responsible for his loss, Sen. Ted Cruz promising he’d never make or endorse videos like it probably helped him.

Then there’s the awkward YMCA remake from his fans.

O’Rourke and his windmilling arms seem to attract real oddities, but birds of a feather, I guess.
