Current DNC chair Tom Perez denied Fox News their request to host one of the upcoming Democratic 2020 debates earlier this month, and as a result, the most-watched cable news channel has decided to strike back in hiring former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile.
According to her op-ed at Fox News, Brazile accepted the job and preemptively released a statement scolding leftists who may be angry with her over the decision:
I’m delighted to be joining FOX News. I know I’m going to get criticized from my friends in the progressive movement for being on FOX News. My response is that, if we’ve learned anything from the 2016 election, it is that we can’t have a country where we don’t talk to those who disagree with our political views. There’s an audience on FOX News that doesn’t hear enough from Democrats. We have to engage that audience and show Americans of every stripe what we stand for rather than retreat into our ‘safe spaces’ where we simply agree with each other.
Brazile once used her position at CNN to hand Hillary Clinton debate questions before her dust up with now President Donald Trump during the 2016 elections. She was cast out by CNN after backlash arose.
Now, Fox News has apparently hired her in the face of Perez’s denial.
Interestingly, Brazile isn’t the only former DNC chair who seems to be going over to the “dark side.” Perez’s decisions to blacklist Fox News was also criticized by former DNC chair Ed Rendell.
“I think it was a mistake for the DNC to do what it did,” he told Laura Ingraham on Fox News. “I know they were taken off a little bit by the New Yorker article, but as you said: If I was DNC chair, I would, and I think Tom Perez is doing a good job — but if I was DNC chair, Laura, I would say give me Brett Baier, Chris Wallace, and Juan Williams and you can have that Fox debate anywhere, anytime, any number of times. I’d be confident that it’d be fair.”
