Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh was sentenced to 38 years in prison and 148 lashes this week. Her husband, Reza Khandan, posted on Facebook that Sotoudeh was sentenced in two separate cases — the first one resulting in a five-year prison sentence and the second in a 33-year sentence.
Also this week… The Islamic Republic of Iran was just awarded a seat on the UN Women’s rights committee. The committee hears complaints of women’s rights violations.
This was exactly one day after the regime sentenced women’s rights lawyer Nasrin Sotudeh to 38 years prison 148 lashes.
